Automated Methods

Flipping through a bound volume of Annual Reviews of Microbiology (volume 1976, my year of birth) I came across an interesting review by Henry D. Isenberg and James D. Maclowry. Considering the current state of molecular (micro)biology this review is quit visionary and very off the mark at the same time. The problems and tasks they identify for "those who would automate bacteriological procedures" are still valid. Nevertheless, DNA is not mentioned once in the whole review.
